Mara Bush Camp

A great location is key for the most amazing memories and experiences when going on a safari, and our camps are perfectly placed right in the heart of the Maasai Mara. The Mara Bush camp boasts one of the best and most spectacular locations in the famous Maasai Mara game reserve. It is located on the banks of the seasonal Olare Orok river, overlooking a large hippo pool with over 40 hippos at any given time. It is only a 05 minutes drive from Ol Kiombo airstrip. River crossings during the July to October migration period are only a short drive away from the camp.

Rooms

Our rooms are a mixture of luxury walk-in tents, high-end, eco-conscious tented rooms, all within an intimate and natural setting. Being close to and connecting with nature is how a safari should be experienced, and we strive to give you that same experience at the Mara Bush Camp Portfolio.

Luxury boutique rooms in the wild

The private wing offers exclusivity, with 8 river tents and 04 forest tents, designed with great attention to detail. The tents are large and spacious with mahogany furniture and luxurious soft furnishings that give it the desired comfort of a luxury camp with a bush feeling. All tents are equipped with en-suite bathrooms, mini-fridge and a fan. There is a lot of distance between each tent, ensuring maximum privacy and giving you the feeling of being able to enjoy your own African nature experience. The tents are very generous in size and offer an incredible ambience of warmth and comfort in the wild. Your bedroom is furnished with a double and single bed, a writing desk and chair, wardrobe and chest. All bathrooms are partitioned through soft furnishings and offer a vanity unit and double sinks, hot and cold running water and shower as well as flush toilet.

We have 08 luxury river tents that are spacious and designed with great attention to detail, providing all amenities found in a hotel room, yet, with an eco-friendly approach! Furnishings are in a dark red/maroon color.

Luxury forest tents

We have 04 luxury forest tents that are spacious and designed with great attention to detail, providing all amenities found in a hotel room, yet, with an eco-friendly approach. Furnishings are in a light and bright green colour.

Family tents

We have 02 luxury family tents to accommodate families or a group of friends comfortably. The family tents are overlooking the river.

Cozy lounge bar

This spacious lounge bar tent with a hand crafted bar and cozy sofa sets, serve as a meeting point, where guests can relax and enjoy a cocktail and exchange the day’s experiences before moving on to the adjacent dining tent for a delicious meal. A unique little gift shop in this lounge offers lovely souvenirs and giveaways for travellers looking for something different to take home. The gift shop supports products locally made, organic or from self-help women projects.

Dining experience

The spacious dining tent is the mealtime highlight where carefully prepared meals are displayed in a colourful array of soups, salads, vegetarian & meat dishes and divine desserts. The head chef with his expertise in both international and African dishes will cook scrumptious meals throughout your stay for you. Our little organic vegetable garden adds to the flavors of healthy and home cooked meals! Meals at Mara Bush Camp are generally served buffet style, however, with less than 06 clients, they are pre-plated. We offer outdoor dining, weather permitting, preferably under the shade of our cooling river trees. The main mess tent is used for indoor dining for all other occasions. On a clear night, you will encounter thousands of stars in the romantically lit camp setting.

Hippo pool

Experience our extra-special and unique hippo pool platform within the lodge overlooking over 50 hippos that are active in the river below. Revel in your day’s adventure at our special fire place to exchange game drive stories overlooking the river. Exchange experiences and knowledge in our unique photographic lounges after your return from your day’s experience. Mara Bush camp offers you everything desired in a private and authentic safari experience.

Photographer’s lounge

Mara Bush camp is a heaven to photographers, not only because of its fantastic location but also because of a cozy photo lounge which provides photographers with working tables with fixed charging point for their equipment. This is the ideal meeting point for photographers to exchange ideas and share their expertise regarding the world of photography. A projector and screen is available for photo workshops.

Camp fire

The camp fire is probably the most liked hang out place in the evenings. Set under the stars on comfortable canvas chairs, reminisce the day and the impressions on wildlife & nature. Share stories of all that you experienced whilst enjoying a cold drink and hot and cold canapés.

How to get there

From the capital city, Nairobi, about 6-7 hours driving time. You drive along a section of the great rift valley and continue through the city of Narok to the central Maasai Mara. From the capital city, Nairobi, about 1 hour flight. From Mombasa, 2.5 hours flight time from Mombasa International Airport or Ukunda airstrip. Mara Bush camp is just 08 minutes from the Olkiombo airstrip Airlines such as Safarilink, Air Kenya or Mombasa Air fly to the Maasai Mara daily.
